Intel Wants Android x86 for Netbooks and Tablets This Summer
Posted on June 25th, 2010 No comments
Intel is hard at work, prepping an “Android x86″version of Android 2.2 designed for tablets and netbooks. As we’ve mentioned here a couple of times, Android was initially designed for ARM processors. Intel has been gradually getting more involved with the platform, most recently for the Google TV products due later this year. At some point, Intel hopes to see smart phones running their Atom processors in addition to the Qualcomm chips that have become all the rage. Read the rest of this entry » -

Crazy stuff. Currently, Swype is running officially on 10 handsets (including the droid X ), so they have a way to go, but news like this is very exciting for many. FTC Will Investigate Apple
Posted on June 14th, 2010 No comments
The war between Google and Apple took another turn over the last few days. Recent tweaks to the App Store rules prohibit developers from certain development tools that enable them to create apps that run on multiple devices. Some of the new tweaks also seem to effectively block third-party advertising services like AdMob. As many of you know, Google’s deal with AdMob recently gained approval by the FCC. So what does Apple do? Change the rules of the game. Read the rest of this entry » -
HTC Wildfire Available Through Vodafone
Posted on June 14th, 2010 No commentsIt seems like we are getting an HTC announcement once a week lately!
PRlog.com is reporting that the HTC Wildfire will be available on Vodafone and 3 other carriers with various rate plans. Android Market: Hiccups Continue
Posted on June 14th, 2010 No comments
On the Android Market forums there is an uproar: many apps significantly suddenly dropped their counts. We already covered Market issues twice in the past week and Google even apologized to developers. However last night the first thing I noticed was that my “Credit Card” app disappeared from the market search. No, it wasn’t yanked. It can still be found by direct query “pname:bostone.android.credit,” but it does not appear on search by name, by keyword or even when I click on “View more applications.” Read the rest of this entry » -

New Independent App Store, AndSpot Enters Fray to Take On Google Market
Posted on June 13th, 2010 No commentsBack when I was a kid, I used to love to watch the WWE Royal Rumble, with every major player in the group going at each other. It seems that we may have the same sort of situation shaping up in the Android app world, as another independent app store has popped up, this time in the form of the AndSpot Market. With their tagline reading, “Welcome to the alternative Android Marketplace,” it is obvious they are trying to position themselves as a better alternative to the somewhat convoluted official Market Google runs for Android users now. In an article over at Wired, Co-Founder Ash Kheramand says, Read the rest of this entry »

Samsung Galaxy Apollo Headed for UK “Soon”
Posted on June 11th, 2010 No comments
Head over to Samsung’s UK page for smartphones and you will see a model called the Galaxy Apollo. Listed as coming soon with no specs or details, we think we know what is under the hood. The Apollo bears more than a passing resemblance to the Korean M100S (pictured below) launched back in February so it only seems logical to assume the insides are the same. Check out the video below from AT&T which shows how they go about testing their handsets. Of particular note is the fact that this clip shows the yet-to-be-announced HTC Aria/Liberty/Intruder smart phone.
